Growing up in Watertown, Connecticut in the 1970's I remember looking in the phonebook to see how many people had the same last name as me. It was a great disappointment because my Grandma, Rose MacSweeney in Waterbury, and my Uncle Bob in Woodbury were the only people I could find. Many years later, in 1991 I was honeymooning in Ireland and I opened a phonebook. To my great joy there were several pages of both McSweeney & MacSweeney families! I felt so good, I didn't know a soul listed, and the chances of a relation were far but the fact that there were so many of "us" gave me such a sense of family & belonging. A year later my new Husband and I were blessed with boy/girl twins. My husband & son were the last of his family name, O'Connor. My husband, an only child, did not know his genealogy so I began my search. I wanted the twins to know from whom they had come. The research grew into several family lines. Including:
