The Mueller’s came to America from Furtwangen in the Black Forest of Germany. They were all Master Clockmakers.
Ernst Mueller came to Waterbury, CT and was sponsored by The Lux Clock Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, Connecticut most noted for The Clock-On-The-Green - The base and the 15 foot granite tower were designed by Paul Lux of the Lux Clock Co. Ernest was responsible for the clock works and the original model is still owned by the family.
It has been called "Colley's Clock" at times for the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Charles Colley, who fought for it. A major debate at the time (beautification or ruination of the Green) had one newspaper on each side. The clock was dedicated November 25, 1915.
Ernst’s brother settled in the neighboring town of Thomaston and work for the Seth Thomas Clock Company.
